ANGULAR DEPENDENCE OF COLLISION-INDUCED EXCITATION OF H2+ IONS

摘要
We have measured the angular dependence of the dissociation cross section of H2+ ions incident at 3-10 keV on rare gases and H2. The results show qualitative agreement with theoretical predictions and also that for small internuclear distances in the H2+ molecule the dissociation proceeds primarily from the 2pσu state. For these internuclear distances the largest departure from the predicted curves has been interpreted as a simultaneous excitation of projectile and target atom. We have also measured the relative dissociation cross section as a function of the H2+ internuclear distance. These measurements reveal evidence for a resonance excitation process. © 1968.
