摘要
The mixing of the radiopotassium tracers 43K and 42K in total body potassium has been analyzed. Under conditions of a potassium free intake the system was studied as a closed multicompartment system. Tracer equilibrium was determined to have been reached by 40-50 hours, thus providing basis for the clinical isotope dilution method of estimating exchangeable potassium. The isotopic tracer 43K proved to be more useful than 42K in tracer dilution studies because of its longer half life (22.4 hours) which permits evaluation of equilibrium at 160 hours. © 1969.
