摘要
The world's first deep-water repeatered optical submarine cable system was installed in the Canary Islands in 1985. It has been followed by TAT-8 (1988) and TPC-3 (1989). These systems represent the dawn of the age of optical fiber submarine cable systems. Several designs of proprietary optical submarine cable system now exist, such as the SL, NL, OS-280M, S-280 and FS-400M. In this paper, optical fiber submarine cable systems especially developed for international optical fiber submarine cable systems are reviewed, and the future technologies for optical fiber submarine cable systems are discussed. © 1990 IEEE
