摘要
A weakly allowed state, assigned to be of 1A*g character, is observed to be the lowest excited singlet state in the one photon absorption and excitation spectra of 2,4,6,8,10-dodecapentaenal. This assignment is consistent with the fluorescence quantum yield and intrinsic lifetime data of the polyenal. Similar results have been obtained for the Schiff base derivative of this linear polyenal. © 1979.
