SPECTROSCOPY OF P-28 NUCLEUS BY THE REACTION (HE-3,T)

The energy levels of 28P were studied with the 28Si(τ, t)28P reaction at a bombarding energy of 35 MeV and 15 keV resolution (FWHM). Excitation energies were measured for 30 separated levels or multiplets with a precision of ≈ 5 keV up to 3.911 MeV and ≈ 10 keV up to 5.19 MeV (21 of these levels were precisely determined for the first time). Spectroscopic information was derived for 22 levels on the basis of the transfered-L. shape analogy of their experimental angular distributions. Comparison was made with DWBA calculations. Some previous Jπ ambiguities are now removed and we propose spectroscopic assignments up to 3.91 MeV. Odd parity levels appear above 3.2 MeV. Comparison was made with the other components of the A = 28, T = 1 isobaric triplet, in particular with the mirror nucleus 28Al. © 1979.
