THERMAL-CONDUCTIVITY OF NORMAL AND SUPERCONDUCTING METALS

Measurements are reported on the thermal conductivity, λ, of various Cu, Ag and Al samples in the kelvin temperature range, as well as of Cu and of superconducting Al in the millikelvin temperature range. For Cu it was found that λ α T and there was agreement with the Wiedemann-Franz law. However, substantial deviations from these 'standard expectations' were observed for Ag and Al. For superconducting Al it was observed that λ α T2 at T < 0.08 K. © 1990.
