摘要
Simple and mixed oxides such as V2O5, MgO, V2O5/Cr2O3, Fe2O3/ZnO, MgO/Al2O3 and MgO/TiO2 were screened for gas phase alkylation of m-cresol. The dependence of activity and selectivity on the acid-base properties of these catalysts is discussed. On acid catalysts this reaction is possible at 673 K and below, whereas on basic catalysts it takes place above 773 K. The effect of modification of the acidity and basicity of the catalysts with the addition of a second oxide on this reaction is also discussed.
