摘要
Genetic variation within and among six populations of eastern white cedar (Thuja occidentalis L.) was examined using electrophoresis. Eighteen loci encoding 12 enzymes were assayed. Population heterozygosities ranged from 0.077 to 0.109 with a mean of 0.094. Little heterogeneity among populations was observed. Genetic distances were low (D=0.0019) and only one of nine polymorphic loci demonstrated allelic heterogeneity. FST indicated that about 1.6% of the total genetic variation was among populations. Maximum likelihood estimation of the number of migrants exchanged among populations per generation was high (mean Nem=30.79±6.62) suggesting extensive gene flow among populations. The small number of species (six) comprising the genus Thuja may offer a rare opportunity to investigate specific differentiation and other genetic phenomena within a conifer genus in its entirety. © 1990.
