INFLUENCE OF OXYGEN DEFICIENCY ON THE CRITICAL CURRENT PROPERTIES OF MPMG-PROCESSED YBA2CU3O7-DELTA

The critical current density and the irreversibility field for melt - powder - melt - growth (MPMG)-processed YBa2CU3O7-delta samples are determined magnetically in fields parallel to the c axis. Both J(c) and B(irr) are depressed with increase of oxygen deficiency. B(irr) is not depressed appreciably with decrease of the concentration Of Y2BaCuO5 precipitates in spite of a significant depression of J(c). A bump structure in the J(c)(B) curve is observed and varies systematically with the oxygen deficiency. These results are compared to flux-pinning models.
