摘要
Optical sensors designed at Warsaw University of Technology operate on the principle of comparison ellipsometry, with self-compensation of changes of the polarization state. In this paper, a sensor for H2S, SO2 or Cl2 gases, based on thin films of silver as 'test' and 'reference' mirrors, is presented. Silver is chosen as a reactive material because of its high reflectivity and its high reactivity with compounds of sulfur and chlorine. However, changes in the reflectivity of silver are irreversible and regeneration of the 'test' mirrors is necessary.
