摘要
Binary Nb-Ti alloys containing 5, 10, 15, 25, and 34 wt.% Ti were nitrided at 1000 °C in 76 mm N2. The nitrides formed in this process have been described previously in studies of the Nb-N and Ti-N binary systems; no ternary nitrides were observed. The reaction with nitrogen involves both bulk and grain boundary diffusion processes with the latter process becoming more important as the titanium content of the alloy is increased. The grain-boundary nitride phase is probably ε{lunate}-Ti3N. The reaction kinetics of the alloys are similar to those of niobium, titanium, and titanium alloys with nitrogen. © 1969.
