SEARCH FOR VOLATILE SUPERHEAVY ELEMENTS IN HEAVY-ION REACTIONS

摘要
We have attempted to synthesize and identify volatile superheavy elements with various heavy-ion reactions in an experiment designed to condense and detect volatile reaction products with half-lives between 1 and 105s. The reactions investigated were: 136Xe+natEr 181Ta, 136Xe+59Co, 136Xe+natNi, 136Xe+natCu, 208Pb+natMo, 136Xe+238U, 238U+ 238U. No evidence was found for volatile superheavy elements. © 1979.
