ELECTRONIC-STRUCTURE OF THE SI(111)7 BY 7 SURFACE STUDIED BY ANGLE-RESOLVED PHOTOELECTRON-SPECTROSCOPY

摘要
Angle-resolved photoemission measurements have been performed on the Si(111)7 × 7 structure by using photons in the energy range 7.8-11.6 eV. The dominant spectral features are due to direct transitions in the bulk. Experimentally determined final state bands are found to be more free-electron-like than in LCAO or APW calculations. Three different surface states or surface resonances are observed at E - EF ≈ -0.2, -0.8 and -2.0 eV. The two uppermost in energy are of Λ1 character. © 1979.
