MN(I) TRANSITION-PROBABILITIES AND THE MANGANESE SOLAR ABUNDANCE

Absolute transition probabilities have been measured for 80 lines from 14 levels in Mn(I) by beam-foil time-of-flight lifetime measurements combined with emission branching ratios from a hollow- cathode source. Using the Preliminary Edition of the Kitt Peak Solar Atlas we have measured the photospheric equivalent width for six of these lines that lie on the linear segment of the curve-of-growth. These lines yield a mean solar Mn abundance log (NMn/NH)+12 = 5.55 +0.12 -0.19. © 1979.
