SEDIMENTOLOGY OF BONNETERRE FORMATION, SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

This paper describes the dynamic inter-relationship of the biological and physical factors that produced the sedimentary and stratigraphic character of the Bonneterre Formation in southeast Missouri - which is the host of a number of lead deposits. The physical factors, the effects of which are recorded in the rock record, were used to analyze the environmental character of the facies patterns. The facies patterns and the resulting stratigraphic sequence had a strong influence on the localization of ore solutions and had a marked effect on the development of the individual character of each of the orebodies of the district.
