SYNTHESIS OF CUBIC BORON-NITRIDE USING MAGNESIUM OR MAGNESIUM-BASED FLUORONITRIDES

摘要
Cubic boron nitride has been prepared from h-BN using magnesium fluoronitrides as well as magnesium-lithium, manganese or zirconium fluoronitrided systems as flux-precursors. The conversion yields are much higher than those observed when pure magnesium nitride, Mg3N2, is used. The P-T diagram of c-BN formation has been investigated with Mg2NF as flux-precursor. The synthesis mechanism is discussed. © 1990.
