STABILITY AND ELECTRICAL-PROPERTIES OF ANIONIC CONDUCTING PHASES OF THE BI2O3-CAO-PBO SYSTEM

Thermal investigations in the Bi2O3-CaO-PbO system by means of X-ray diffraction, D.T.A. and impedance spectroscopy have allowed to determine the equilibrium domains of four solid solutions. Their structures are respectively of the rhomboedral Bi-Sr-O type (beta-1 and beta-2), fluorite (delta) and anti alpha-AgI. They directly derive from Bi2O3-CaO and (or) Bi2O3-PbO system phases and also exhibit attractive conductivity properties. The beta-2 phase is the only solid solution which stable down to room temperature. The high temperature beta-1 and delta phases are however air quenchable. The existence domains of the quenched phases and their thermal behaviour are presented.
