摘要
The article summarises experience over a substantial period with small group tutorials in first-year University Biology courses. The style of tutorial was one in which the tutor aimed to be a participant but not to fulfil a directive role. Experience showed that the discussion material used in tutorials was of crucial importance. To be successful, such material had to stimulate discussion and be at the correct level for the capacity of the group. Other important factors included the skills of the tutor, the physical surroundings and the extent of preparation by students. © 1979, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved.
