摘要
An 'overview' discussion is presented on the effects of variables on the mechanical behavior and durability of the polymer-metal interfacial region when a polymeric coupling agent is employed to enhance bonding. Variables include locus of failure, effect of coupling agent thickness, effect of surface wetting, surface preparation, coupling agent functionality, durability in water, and corrosion vs. adhesion failure mechanisms. New data are presented on some of the subjects with previously published data included to complete the discussion. It is believed that most of the effects discussed are general in nature, although the data presented are largely for coupling agent systems investigated by the authors.
