FURTHER ON THE CHEMICAL-REDUCTION OF FE2(NO)4(MU-SR)2

摘要
Reduction of Fe2(NO)4(mu-SR)2 (R = Me, Et or Bu(t)) with 2 equivalents of sodium, KH or MBR3H (M = Li, Na or K; R = Et or Bu(s)) in THF affords [Fe2(NO)4(mu-SR)2]2-, as evidenced by quantitative analysis of evolved hydrogen, conductivity measurements in MeOH and H-1 and H-2 NMR and IR nu(NO) spectroscopic data of the products. In contrast, reduction of Fe2(NO)4(mu-SR)2 with 1 equivalent of MBR3H yields products that differ from the foregoing dianions by the presence of hydrogen derived from the borohydride. The combined product characterization data do not support the formulation [Fe2(NO)4(mu-SR)2]-.
