摘要
The oxygen isotope compositions of fresh volcanic glasses from submarine volcanoes of 'enriched mantle' (EM-I and EM-II) type appear to require the presence of subducted crustal components in the source of these lavas. These data confirm earlier inferences from trace elements and radiogenic isotopes, and also provide a rare opportunity to estimate the proportion of subducted material that reaches the source region of ocean island basalts.
