Literature data for the selective catalytic reduction of NO with NH3 in the presence of O2 on 27 catalysts of supported and unsupported metal oxides and zeolites are critically reviewed and analyzed. Intrinsic catalyst activities, apparent activities, and catalyst effectiveness factors are calculated in the light of a postulated mechanism for the reaction. Intrinsic activation energies and preexponential factors were obtained and correlated in terms of the catalytic compensation effect. The catalysts are compared and rated in terms of their activity to reduce nitric oxide from flue gas of stationary power plants.
