摘要
60 tape recordings, representing the 1st middle, and terminal phases of therapy for 20 clients, were scored for verbal dependency expressions and the interpersonal relationships involved. While all counselors were male, 10 clients were male and 10 female. It was predicted that female clients would make more dependency expressions, both initially and throughout therapy. Results show that male and female clients did not differ in frequency of dependency expressions. However, pretherapy MMPI data did show sex differences: male clients had significantly more T scores above 70, and also scored significantly higher than their same-sex norm group on the Masculinity-Femininity scale. It is suggested that male clients tend to be less assertive and more easily subdued by adversity. (19 ref.)
