EXPONENTS FOR ELECTRICAL-CONDUCTIVITY IN DISORDERED MATERIALS

Scaling relations are established for the density of states n(E) and the electrical conductivity sigma (E) for an electron in the presence of dense, weak, random scatterers. Near the mobility edge Ec, the problem scales to one of large potential fluctuations. Four dimensions produce singularities. Exponents are obtained for the dependence of n(Ec) on mass and potential fluctuations. Bounds on sigma (E) exponents are consistent with possible minimum metallic conductivity for d=2 but not d=3.
