THE ADSORPTION AND DEHYDROGENATION OF CYCLOHEXANE ON THE (1X1) AND (5X20) SURFACES OF PT(100)

摘要
The adsorption and dehydrogenation of cyclohexane on the (1 x 1) and (5 x 20) surfaces of Pt{100} have been investigated using EELS. On both surfaces dehydrogenation of cyclohexane to benzene occurs. The reactivity of the (5 x 20) surface, however, is three to four orders of magnitude lower than that of both the (1 x 1) surface and the topographically similar Pt{111} surface. The high reactivity of the (1 x 1) surface is surprising since no softened C-H mode is observed.
