MAGNETIC AND THERMAL-BEHAVIOR OF CEALX (X = SI AND GE) COMPOUNDS

摘要
CeSiAl and CeGeAl crystallise in the alpha-ThSi2 type structure. Heat capacity measurements show that both order magnetically at 7.1 and 4 K respectively, with entropy nearly equal to Rln2 in both compounds. Magnetisation measurements reveal that while CeSiAl orders ferromagnetically, CeGeAl is an antiferromagnet. The single-site Kondo effect appears to be negligible in these materials.
