CHEMISORPTION INDUCED LUMINESCENCE FROM COLOR-CENTERS

摘要
Adsorboluminescence spectra associated with the adsorption of oxygen on CaO and MgO have been measured using an optical multichannel analyzer. Broad emission bands are observed which are only slightly shifted from bulk F center photoluminescence bands. The shift is larger (about 0.2 eV) for MgO. The widths of these adsorboluminescence bands are comparable to F center photoluminescence bands. A shift might be accounted for by postulating emission from near-surface or surface analogs (Fs centers) of bulk F centers. Possible luminescence mechanisms are discussed. © 1979.
