Measurements of specific heat were carried out for liquid S-Te mixtures using an adiabatic scanning calorimeter, For S-rich S-Te, the specific heat is almost independent of temperature and S concentration. For Te-rich S Te, on the other hand, the specific heat depends strongly on the temperature and S concentration. A broad maximum in the temperature dependence of the specific heat is observed for S0.2Te0.8 and S0.3Te0.7, and it shifts towards higher temperatures with increasing sulphur concentration. The specific heat maximum is located in the temperature region where a metal-non-metal transition takes place. The large specific heats for the S-Te mixtures are attributed to the change in the local bond configuration. The temperature dependence of the specific heat reflects the mechanism of the bonding rearrangement.
