LEFT-RIGHT ASYMMETRY IN H(2P) CHARGE CAPTURE FROM LASER-ORIENTED NA(3P)

摘要
A strong asymmetry has been observed in 1-keV H+ + Na(3p) --> H(2p) + Na+ collisions after Na(3p) preparation with left- and right-handed circularly polarized laser light. The H(2p) state is characterized by Lyman-alpha photon detection. This angle-differential ion-atom-collision study shows that direct information on higher final-state multipoles can be extracted from a well-defined nonisotropic system.
