ION-BEAM EQUIPMENT MODIFICATION FOR EXTERNAL-BEAM OPERATION

摘要
Equipment for analyses by energetic ions has been modified to allow external beam application. An exit window combined with beam charge monitoring, and a system of accelerator vacuum protection are items of modification. To measure the analysing proton integral charge, backscattering from the exit window foil is used. To protect the accelerator vacuum in the case of exit foil breakthrough, a delay of pressure increase along the beam line and a fast closing of the beam line are employed.
