Radiative lifetimes for 17 levels of the z 4P°,°6, z 6F°, and z 6P°terms in Cr i have been measured by the technique of time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence from sputtered metal vapor, extracted from a pulsed hollow cathode discharge. A XeCl-excimer laser-pumped distributed-feedback dye-laser with a pulse duration of 200 ps, a spectral bandwidth of 0.006 nm, and a repetition rate of up to 200 Hz was employed for the selective excitation of the levels investigated. © 1990 The American Physical Society.
