HETEROGENEOUS LOSS OF GASEOUS H2O2 IN ATMOSPHERIC AIR SAMPLING SYSTEM

摘要
The extent of gaseous H2O2 losses in the sampling line of a fluorometric detector was investigated extensively. In some cases, as much as 90% of the gaseous H2O2 was lost by surface reactions taking place at the inlet region of the sampling line. Gaseous H2O2 measurement was found to be dependent not only on the sampling line cleanness, but on the ambient conditions as well. The generally adopted procedure using aqueous-phase H2O2 standards to calibrate the system is shown to be unsatisfactory. Instead, gas-phase H2O2 calibration is required for quantitative ambient measurements, and an effective procedure is recommended herein.
