NEGATIVE PLASMA POTENTIALS PRODUCED BY SUPPLEMENTAL ELECTRON-EMISSION

摘要
A detailed investigation of the effects of supplemental electron injection into a multi-dipole argon plasma is presented. It is shown that an increase in the density of non-ionizing electrons produced by a space-charge-limited filament leads to the creation of negative plasma potentials that confine ions and result in ion heating. A model is given which shows that the requirement of charge neutrality predicts many of the experimental results. © 1979 American Institute of Physics.
