A THERMODYNAMIC STUDY OF THE DISSOLUTION OF GOLD IN AN ACIDIC AQUEOUS THIOCYANATE MEDIUM USING IRON(III) SULFATE AS AN OXIDANT

摘要
Species distribution and pH-potential diagrams have been constructed for the gold/iron/thiocyanate/sulphate/water system in the pH and concentration ranges expected in the practical leaching process. Apart from elucidating the complex chemistry of such a system, these diagrams were used to predict: the feasibility of, the optimum experimental conditions for; and the significant factors affecting the leaching of gold with acidic thiocyanate solutions in the presence of iron (III) sulphate.
