ETHANOL GAS-SENSING PROPERTIES OF SNO2-BASED THIN-FILM SENSORS PREPARED BY THE SOL-GEL PROCESS

SnO2 thin-film gas sensors containing La2O2 and Pt were prepared by the sol-gel process. The films were sensitive to ethanol gas as demonstrated by a change in electrical conductivity. The sensitivity was markedly promoted by loading with La2O3/Pt and increasing film thickness. The response time increased with the amount of La2O3 and film thickness. The response time was in the range of 40-70 s at 300 degrees C and could be decreased to 35 s by loading with Pt. The doubly-loaded film sensors, Pt-La2O3-SnO2, displayed enhanced ethanol gas sensing properties.
