The physical principle of the NH3 determination used here is comparable to that of the lambda sensor. An innovative method of modifying the sensor preparation allows the ammonia content to be measured. The sensor consists of two electrodes separated by a solid-state electrolyte. One of the electrodes is sensitive only to NH3 and the electric potential varies proportionally to the NH3 concentration in the gas phase of the NH3-related electrode. The influence of other gases like O2, H2O and CO2 can be eliminated. The measuring range varies from 0-20 ppm up to 0-1000 ppm. The accuracy for the smallest range is +/- 2 ppm.
