ANGULAR MOMENTA NEAR IONIZATION THRESHOLDS FOR ELECTRON-ION COLLISIONS

Angular momenta both of electrons and nuclei in electron-hydrogen-ion collisions have been calculated numerically, in the vicinity of the ionisation threshold, for He+, Li2+ and Be3+ targets. It is found that the most probable electron angular momentum follows the power law: l approximately Z0.56. Dependence of the electron angular momentum on the total energy E for e-Li2+ collisions has been examined on the behaviour: l approximately E-0.39 obtained. Application of classical numerical methods to the study of the angular momentum distribution is discussed as well as the relevance of the near-threshold processes to some astrophysical problems.
