Fully functionalized glycosyl acceptors for the efficient syntheses of cell-surface carbohydrate determinants containing N-acetyllactosamine have been systematically prepared by the regioselective manipulations of a readily available 1,6-anhydro-6'-O-trityl-beta-lactose as a key starting material. Versatility of the standardized intermediates having an unprotected hydroxyl group C-3 or C-2' position are also preliminarily demonstrated by the glycoside formation with the known fucose derivatives.
