RAMAN STUDIES OF GRAPHITE LATTICE-DISORDERING KINETICS UNDER LOW-ENERGY HE-ION IRRADIATION

摘要
We present real-time Raman measurements of graphite under low-energy He-ion irradiation and discuss an ion-mass effect on the lattice-disordering kinetics by comparing with previous measurements under Ar-ion irradiation. The reciprocal of the phonon correlation length in the damaged layers is proportional to the square root of the irradiation time, and its rate is about 1/3 that for Ar-ion irradiation. The square-root dependence is explained in terms of a reduction of the in-plane phonon correlation length and the quasi-two-dimensional structure of graphite.
