TITANIUM NITRIDE AND TITANIUM ALUMINUM NITRIDE COATINGS ON SILICA GLASS, PREPARED BY PYROLYSIS OF A POLYMERIC PRECURSOR FILM

摘要
Metallic aluminum and metallic titanium were anodically dissolved in a fluid purely organic electrolyte. The obtained highly viscous solution was used for dip coating of silica glass substrates. Drying and subsequent calcining of these coatings in an atmosphere of ammonia or inert gas led to the formation of thin metal nitride coatings. If the procedure was carried out using a mixed aluminum and titanium precursor solution, at a calcination temperature of 850-degrees-C, monophased layers were obtained, supposedly consisting of metastable (Ti, Al)N solid solutions. While the light transmission in the visible range was fairly high, (Ti, Al)N-layers showed low transmission in the near infrared region.
