摘要
The structural considerations in the interesting role of Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) monolayers that have been found in a previous paper (K, Orihara, Thin Solid Films, 209 (1992) 274) to bring about a remarkable increase in the electrical conductivities of evaporated aluminium deposits with a thickness of about 50 angstrom on the monolayer are described. As a result, it was found from transmission electron microscopy images of the deposited particles that the LB monolayer of the octadecyl derivative of merocyanine dye, which exhibits the above electrical effect, causes a decrease in the particle sizes of the evaporated aluminium and disperses the particles uniformly on the monolayer. However, substrates of bare glass or the LB monolayer of cadmium stearate, which did not exhibit the above electrical effects, do not have such effects on the particles.
