PRODUCTION OF J = 2 RESONANCES IN 2-PHOTON COLLISIONS

摘要
Two experiments have observed an enhancement in the pi-pi-pi channel in gamma-gamma collisions, which they identify as the pi-2(1670), a J(P) = 2- state. Preliminary results in the eta-pi-pi channel show a resonance about 200 MeV higher. A nonrelativistic-quark-model calculation predicts gamma-gamma widths for these d-wave states two to three orders of magnitude smaller than are observed, although the same model successfully describes the p-wave J(p) = 2+ states. Some angular correlations that might confirm the J(P) = 2- assignment are discussed.
