Measurements are presented on the magnetic field generated within a superconductor when it is set into rotation the so-called London moment. Solid rods and hollow cylinders have been investigated in a variety of materials in both single-crystal and polycrystalline specimens, and in both elemental and alloy superconductors. In the case of the hollow cylinders, wall thicknesses as thin as 27 have been employed. In all cases the results are in excellent agreement with the London formula. © 1969 The American Physical Society.
