摘要
Reported correlations between sons' and daughters' IQs at 20 mo. and 10 yr. and measures of parental ability and environmental ratings for a time sample of 485 children, participants in a longitudinal study on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. The findings point to sex differences in rate of intellectual maturation favoring the girls and to a greater responsiveness of the girls to achievement demands and educational stimulation in the home in middle childhood. Ratings of educational stimulation in the home yielded higher correlations with IQs of both sons and daughters than measures of parental ability, socioeconomic status, and emotional support.
