摘要
The electro-optical Kerr constant of water-dioxane and water-acetone systems have been measured at 632.8 nm over their complete concentration ranges, using 2μs electric field pulses of magnitude 7 × 106Vm-1. The variation of the molar Kerr constant with the concentration of water shows a marked pattern near 0.3 mole fraction in dioxane and a broad inflexion point, centred about 0.5 mole fraction for acetone. The results are correlated with the formation of hemihydrate and dihydroxy structures in water-dioxane and water-acetone mixtures, respectively. © 1978.
