Detection of sex-specific DNA fingerprint bands in the Peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus) using non radioactive 33.6 and 33.15 human probes

摘要
In this paper, we report the coexistence of cross hybridization of the 33.6 and 33.15 human minisatellite probes to female specific DNA fragments in birds of prey. Besides detecting highly informative polymorphic autosomal loci (the mean probability of two unrelated individuals sharing a band was estimated to be 0.28 for probe 33.6 and 0.37 for probe 33.15), each probe allowed the detection of a DNA fragment present only in the DNA profiles obtained from female peregrine falcons (Falco peregrinus) and transmitted to female offspring only.
