Fine-particle dielectric oxide materials, MTiO3, MZrO3 (where M = Ca, Sr, Ba and Pb), Pb(Zr0.53Ti0.47)O3 and Pb0.92La0.08(Zr0.65Ti0.35)0.98O3 have been prepared by the combustion of an aqueous solution, containing stoichiometric amounts of the corresponding metal nitrate and tetraformyl triazine mixture, at 350-degrees-C for a few minutes. The combustion-derived dielectric oxides are fine and have a large surface area (12-30 m2 g-1). The powders, when pelletized and sintered at 1200-degrees-C for 1 h achieved a 92-95% theoretical density.
