FIELD-INDUCED METAMAGNETIC TRANSITION IN VALENCE FLUCTUATING COMPOUND YBIN1-XAGXCU4

摘要
Effect of the substitution of Ag for In on a valence transition in YbInCu4 has been investigated by the high field magnetization measurements. A valence transition has been observed in YbIn1-xAgxCu4 with x less-than-or-equal-to 0.1. All samples with x less-than-or-equal-to 0.1 show the same temperature dependence of the transition field, which suggests that the mechanism of the valence transition induced by magnetic field is not affected by the substitution of Ag for In up to 10%. The valence transition is found to occur in the system when the temperature and field satisfy a simple elliptic relation.
