摘要
Among women in the United States, more new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed than any other cancer, and breast cancer is second only to lung cancer as a cause of cancer death. The latest American Cancer Society estimate is that one in nine women will develop breast cancer at some time during their lives. The authors examine the demographic characteristics and international trends of this disease and analyze the etiologic role of reproductive factors, endogenous and exogenous hormones, estrogen receptors, diet, heredity, radiation, benign breast conditions, and other factors.
