ENERGY-GAP AND TEMPERATURE-DEPENDENCE OF ELECTRON AND EXCITATION TRANSFER IN BIOLOGICAL-SYSTEMS

摘要
Biological electron transfer and excitation transfer are studied by a general quantum-mechanical multiphonon formalism including the contributions from an arbitrary number of normal modes. It is shown that the oscillatory energy-gap dependence of the transfer rate, manifested in outer-shaped electron transfer becomes more conspicuous in biological systems. The activationless process may also play an important role in efficient biological functioning. The results also predict negative activation phenomena. © 1979.
